A mild earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted Rawalpindi and its surrounding areas late Saturday night. According to initial reports, the tremor was recorded at approximately 10:48 PM, with the epicenter located about 15 kilometers from Rawalpindi.

Residents in various parts of the city, including Islamabad and nearby localities, reported feeling the quake. Many rushed out of their homes in fear, though no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage have emerged.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed the earthquake’s magnitude and depth, stating that it was relatively shallow, which could explain why it was strongly felt in the region. Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and follow safety protocols in case of aftershocks.

Seismologists note that Pakistan is located in a seismically active region, making occasional tremors a common occurrence. The authorities continue to monitor the situation and advise preparedness for any potential aftershocks.

More updates will follow as additional information becomes available.
