In Mastung, a town 50 km from Quetta, a bomb explosion on Friday killed at least eight people, including five schoolchildren and a police officer, and left over 30 injured. The blast occurred near a girls’ school and a hospital at School-Hospital Chowk.
Officials reported that a remote-controlled IED, planted in a motorbike, targeted a police vehicle on its way to pick up polio vaccinators for the nationwide immunization drive. The device was detonated as children arrived at school, causing tragic fatalities, including two sets of siblings.
The police confirmed no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
