ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi is a potential candidate to lead Pakistan Women’s Cricket, as reported by Geo Super. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently seeking a new Head of Women’s Cricket following the resignation of Tania Mallick, who is leaving for new career opportunities after starting her role in October 2021.
ASP Naqvi gained public attention earlier this year for rescuing a woman from a mob in Lahore and has also been involved in innovative community initiatives, such as launching a pet park in collaboration with IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. Recently, she addressed the Lahore police’s position on a controversial alleged rape case at Punjab College.
Other candidates for the position include former Lahore Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rafia Haider. PCB COO Salman Naseer commended both Sohaib Sheikh and Tania Mallick for their significant contributions to women’s cricket in Pakistan, highlighting Mallick’s efforts to grow the grassroots player base and her role on the ICC Women’s Committee. The selection process is ongoing, with strong consideration for various candidates.
