In a tragic attack in Mastung, Balochistan, a blast near a girls’ high school claimed the lives of seven people, including five children, and left 17 others injured. The explosion, caused by an IED attached to a motorcycle, targeted a police mobile near the Mastung Civil Hospital. This incident drew strong condemnation from Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, who denounced the terrorists’ shift to attacking “soft targets” like children and vowed to seek justice. He urged civilians to remain vigilant and emphasized a unified fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Acting President Yusuf Raza Gilani also expressed their sorrow, condemning the bombing as an assault on education and stability in the region. PM Shehbaz directed authorities to apprehend the attackers and provide the injured with high-quality medical care. Both leaders reiterated the nation’s resolve to counter terrorism and ensure security forces have full public support.

The incident is part of an alarming rise in violence in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions. While no group claimed responsibility for the attack, recent months have seen a string of assaults on civilians and laborers, heightening national concerns over safety and underscoring the need for stronger counter-terrorism measures.
